The University of Arizona is a premier public research university in the United States, located in Tucson, Arizona. It’s an excellent place for high-impact research. Many life science-related departments exist on campus, including the Molecular and Cellular Biology department (home to the Buchan lab), fostering a strong culture of collaboration and openness throughout the campus. Core facilities are robust. Additionally, numerous seminar series and retreat events ensure consistent exposure to world-renowned researchers and provide networking/collaboration opportunities.
Tucson is an affordable, mid-size city that boasts a fantastic climate, food scene, and outdoor activity options. It is culturally diverse and family-friendly. Surrounded by four mountain ranges within the Sonoran Desert, Tucson is beautiful and rich in fascinating biology. Finally, Tucson is close to wonderful state and national parks, as well as other major cities (Phoenix, San Diego).
